Mr. Omar Yassin bin Abdullah

Group Chairman

Mr. Omar is the Chairman of Suria Global (L) Ltd., and sole shareholder in Suria Global (UK) Trusted Limited, Suria Global (S) Pte. Ltd., and Empire Group Management Sdn. Bhd., since their inceptions. With a team of professionals and industry experts beginning from Australia and Fiji Island in 2011, Mr. Omar manages all the strategic investments and operations of the many subsidiaries around the world including his relationships with other corporate partners, family funds and various government bodies.

Mr. Omar acquired his experiences in the early days as an engineer with a European-based leading engineering multi-disciplinary multi-national consulting, engineering, constructions and operation management group. The company has successfully completed large projects in more than 13 countries in which Mr. Omar plays strategic roles in delivering world class and innovative solutions. Mr. Omar was then exposed and was introduced into the Global network with other successful ventures including commodity trading between the Middle East, Russia, Europe and China PRC.

With these networks and trust built over the years, Mr. Omar moved into being a self-made entrepreneur and businessman. For the last 13 years, his business networks have brought him to Russia, USA, Eastern Block, United Kingdom and then back to Asia into Malaysia. Thailand. Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, China PRC, Hong Kong SAR, Korea and Japan.

Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Yaw acted as the management consultant to two New York-based Investment Advisory and Private Equity firms to open offices in New York, Los Angeles, Johannesburg and Hong Kong.

At Suria Global, Mr. Yaw is actively involved in the structuring of financial instruments for private equity investments in companies that are currently involved in the Bio-Forestry, Bio-Medical and Pharmaceutical, Affordable Homes, Food Security and Bio-Plastic technology companies.

In 2012-2014, Mr. Yaw was the Head of Private Equity at RHB Investment Berhad, the third largest universal bank in Malaysia and in 2005-2011, he was appointed as the Senior Vice President, Executive Director and Head of Private Equity at Dubai Investment Group Sdn. Bhd., (“DIG”). DIG was a wholly owned subsidiary of Dubai Group, whose sole shareholder is HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates. DIG was the regional office for Dubai Group in Kuala Lumpur and its primary investment focus was equity investment in this region including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, and North Asia including China. DIG had regional offices in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, London, and New York with its HQ in Dubai, UAE.

Prior to joining DIG, from 2001-2005, Mr. Yaw was with Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad (“MAVCAP”) and Cradle Fund Sdn. Bhd., two wholly owned subsidiaries of the Ministry of Finance Inc., Malaysia, which is the investment arm of the Malaysian government. He was the Senior Vice President of Direct Ventures, in charge of Seed Ventures and Agency Ventures and was instrumental in the strategic implementation of the Cradle Investment Program in November 2003. 

For Corporate Social Responsibilities activities, Mr. Yaw was also the co-founder and Chairman of Muzium Gopeng Management Berhad, a local philanthropic registered society in the promotion of oldtown revival and preservation of local artefacts, arts and antiques in Gopeng, Perak. He graduated from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Theological Studies in 1985.

Dr. Yin Fah Kam

Chief Scientist - Consultant, Group Level and Suria Global (S) Pte. Ltd

Dr. Kam is a leading Applied Scientist and Technopreneur, marrying science and business. With more than 35 years of professional experience in “humanizing” science and technology in areas dealing with human health and the environment. His current passions include (a) natural foods including probiotics, nutraceuticals and functional foods using platform technologies in antibiotics free and pesticide free farming for agribusiness and (b) molecularly extracted natural ingredients that are clinically tested to show therapeutic benefits with neuro-protective properties.                                        Also, YF is a member of professionals that is developing a sustainable growth business model that encompasses a circular bioeconomy approach. This practical model is transformational in respect to creating significant employment and providing high economic benefits, plus adding many industrial additionalities for state and countries endowed with much natural forests and those nations that adopt properly managed planted forests practices.

YF brings unique ideas to enterprises by translating his understanding of the application sciences to marketable products coupled with filling in the knowledge network matrices necessary for sustainable enterprise development and growth. YF has accepted to be a senior advisor to an Asian Group involves in their transformational Re-Building Humanity programs.

Recent advisory work to regional government agencies and multinationals focused on developing the framework utilizing domain experience and expert network to bring significant economic value from natural resources to biotechnology businesses; such as medicinal plants; edible bird’s nests and forests while emphasizing economic sustainability, conservation and preservation of nature. Provided industry guidance in food safety and assurance programs and was on the Singapore Board of the leading New Zealand government-owned Food Safety and Bio-Security services company as they expanded their services internationally.

YF earned a First Class BSc (1976) and a PhD (1979) in Polymer Science & Technology from the North London University, UK. During full-time professional career, he was an Associate Member of the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry, Member and Chartered Chemist of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) and Member of the American Association of Clinical Chemistry (USA).

Dato’ Howard Choo is a financial services expert with over 35 years of experience in local and international banking. He is the former Executive Director of DBS Thai Danu Bank Thailand and MD, DBS Bank Singapore, Ex Vice-Chairman Singapore-Thai Chamber of Commerce and Member of Executive Decision Panel, Bank of Thailand. He is an Adviser to University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) and University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) in International Business.

He was Adviser to Persatuan Usahawan Muda Malaysia (PUMM) and Former Council member of MCA SME Development Bureau. He has been active with Bank Negara Malaysia since the 1990s in human resource knowledge enhancement activities.

An MBA (University of Wales and Manchester Business School) and a Fellow Member of Institute of Public Accountants, Australia (FIPA), Dato’ is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ACIS). He was also a trainer for South East Asia Central Bank Training Centre (SEACEN) and author of several books on Banking and Finance. He is a tutor for Wawasan Open University in International Financial Management and Corporate Finance.

Currently, he assumes the role of Education Committee Member of Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB), Implementation Task Force Member of Asian Banking School (ABS), Council member of the AICB and Chairman of the Board of Examiners. He is also the current Chairman of Labuan Investment Banks Group (LIBG). He is also a Fellow Chartered Banker and a professionally Certified AML/CFT person. He is also the examiner for Advance Corporate Finance for ICIA. He held the office of President, Malaysia-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce.

Dato’ Howard Choo

Mr. Louis Teo

Director of Business Development, Suria Global (L) Ltd.

Louis has more than 20 years of international business consulting specializing in M&A, focusing on financial and business reengineering on behalf of the multinational companies. In these acquisitions, Louis, acted as trusted advisor to the numerous global investors for redefining growth and innovation strategies, proposing and implementing new operating models as well as executing cost analysis and optimization.

After his graduation in 1999 from the Towson University in Maryland, USA with a Bachelor of Art (Finance), Louis was recruited by an international consulting group and from there he gained very significant international working experiences and exposures working with MNC, various government agencies beginning from USA, to United Kingdom, Russia and China PRC. His consultancy includes strategic international policies and corporate lobbying for certain consumers and high value industrial materials in the USA.

From year 2000 onwards, Louis left the USA and joined The Colomer Group, a Barcelona, Spain-based company marketing its brand of products as the Regional Director overseeing the Asia Pacific region. As most Malaysian do, Louis returned to Malaysia in 2015 to help to bring its bourgeoning family businesses into the digital age and offering his experiences and services to local Malaysian companies in their expansion into the SE Asia region and North Asia markets through his networks.

For CSR, Louis is also an active chartered member of the Lions Club in Penang and a member of the Min Sin Seah Clan Association, organizing charity and ethnical activities in the Penang communities.

Mr. Paarthiban, fondly known as Thiban, started his career in the banking and insurance industries before holding wide range of senior roles in the manufacturing, retail, FMCG, Food & Beverage, Development and Construction industries across Asia. These included senior advisory roles in human resource, administration, training and business development, logistics and operations in MNC companies for more than 20 years.

Prior to joining Suria Global, Thiban has been responsible for the smooth and profitable operations of a company’s human resources department whilst driving the workforce in supporting the business operations. He is known for his successful leadership role in developing a corporate culture that optimizes employee’s incentives and personal growth at the same time steering and aligning company-wide operations, to achieve overall corporate growth both top and bottom line.

Thiban holds a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelors of Business Administration (Hons) from a university in UK.
